Interaction with other medicinal products and other forms of interaction The use of corticosteroids may render concurrent vaccinations inoperative. Corticosteroid treated animals may succumb to infection if concurrently vaccinated with live vaccines. Gastro-intestinal tract ulceration may be exacerbated by steroids in patients given non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and in corticosteroid treated animals with spinal cord trauma. Serum levels of concurrently administered salicylates may increase considerably on withdrawal of corticosteroid therapy, with the potential for toxic effects and/or increased gastro-intestinal tract ulceration.

The main clinical signs of SRMA are spinal pain and an elevated temperature – this pain is severe in the neck but can also be present to a lesser extent in the lower back. Side effects

At this time the best option for your pet will be to ask your vet to put him or her to sleep. Prednicare is a steroid-based treatment for inflammation and allergies in cats and dogs. It is most commonly used to treat allergies but can also be prescribed as a treatment for autoimmune diseases and arthritis.

Administer 4.4 milligrams of medication orally per day per kilogram of body weight. Take two milligrams orally per day for every kilogram of body weight. Never use steroids without a prescription from your vet, they can be harmful if used incorrectly. Finally, sick cats may not produce antibodies, so they may also test negative. If a cat has been on steroids for more than three to four months, it is recommended that the condition be re-evaluated or alternative treatment options should be explored. Cats taking long-term steroids should be monitored with quarterly examinations, and their urine cultures and blood tests should be done every six months. It is possible that your symptoms are due to the resurgence of inflammation rather than withdrawal. Should your illness become more severe, it may be necessary to increase your medication of steroids for a short period in order to control the inflammation.
